Alfraamsey

National Hunt Superstar!

Alfraamsey is one of our equine members of the Sporting Appointments squad! No less successful than his human colleagues, “Alf” is a 6 year old who has won on the flat on turf, on the all-weather, over hurdles and his last race victory was in a novice chase. A really versatile horse owned 50% by Doug Woodward. He has been a real revelation this year winning 9 races. With a great sporting name, Alfraamsey is trained near Lambourn by Ali Stronge.

What is your favourite club?

Well, given my name it has to be Tottenham Hotspur or Ipswich Town as the first Alf Ramsey managed both of those before his England glory!

What sporting moment lives longest in the memory?

I don’t get to watch a lot of TV so I have to say it was my first win over hurdles at Plumpton in October 2011. My jockey, Marc Goldstein told me to accelerate a mile from home and I thrashed the opposition, receiving a lot of praise from my trainer and owners afterwards!

What is your favourite book or film?

Obviously I love the Racing Post, but I’m told Secretariat was a great film about a real American superstar.

Who is your sporting idol?

Well it has to be Frankel on the flat and a very attractive mare over the jumps called Quevega, she’s unbeatable! Which sporting events do you most look forward to? My next race!
